Yoruba Paper 2 WASSCE (PC), 2021

Candidate's Weakness

Candidates’ weaknesses include:

  1. Lack of proper understanding of some essay topics, some of them failed to write on the topics they chose while some of them did not write their points in sequential order. For instance, those who wrote on the topic ‘Ilé kan tí mo gbé rí’ could not describe the house as it was expected of them. Instead, they laid emphasis on their experiences in the house.
  2. Lack of exposure to selected Literature texts (Oral and Written)
  3. Poor orthography e.g. dotting of letters, inappropriate use of tone marks.
  4. Inability to write correct spelling of terms in Yoruba.
  5. Lack of in-depth knowledge of the phonological aspect of the subject. Many of the candidates performed woefully in their attempt to describe consonant sounds.
