Skillfully demonstrate stance, approach, hand position, roll over and recovery while performing dive forward roll in gymnastics. Three trials are allowed to execute this activity. [10 marks]

 The expected answers are as follows:

Activity 9:   Dive forward roll
1.  The activity will be on the basis of process evaluation only.
2.  Three trials are allowed and the best trial is recorded as score.

All performances should be judged according to the following rubrics.

Stance
(i)         in an astride standing position
(ii)        arms are slightly flexed / bent

Approach

(i)         make a short run towards the mat / floor
(ii)        dive onto the mat

Hand placement

 (i)        hands / palms are placed flat on the floor / mat

     hands / palms are shoulder width apart

fingers pointing forward

Roll over

(i)         head tucked in / chin touching the chest / look through in between the legs
(ii)        tilt forward / transfer body weight onto the hands

make contact with the floor with the hunch / upper part of the back

Recovery

(i)         finish in a standing position
(ii)        maintain balance
