Few candidates responded to this question, and their performance was average.

However, the expected answers are as follows:

Activity 4:        Set shot in Basketball

Procedure:      The candidate take three set shots from the centre of the free throw line directed at the basket. Pay attention to hold, stance and execution.

Use the scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to rate the candidate’s performance.

Process Evaluation Rating Scale

All performances should be judged according to the following rubrics.

Hold 
(i)         with two hands
(ii)        fingers widely spread around the ball
(iii)       ball rest on the fingers
(iv)       arms flexed at the wrist and elbow
(v)        ball held at chest level       

Stance
(i)         in a standing position
(ii)        legs slightly apart
(iii)       the elbow of the shooting arm faces the direction of the ring
(iv)       both feet in full contact with the floor / ground
(v)        elbow of the shooting arm is free from the body
(vi)       body relaxed

Execution
(i)         ball is held slightly above the head
(ii)        release ball with wrist action
(iii)       support arm should drop off
(iv)       shooting arm follows through with a flip of the wrist
(v)        knees slightly bent / flexed
Product Evaluation

Three trials are to be taken by candidates.

5 points: Ball goes through the basket unhindered
4 points: Ball hits the rim / backboard and rolls in
3 points: Ball hits the back board and rolls in
2 points: Ball hits the rim and rolls out
1 point: Ball did not get to the backboard / rim at all

NOTE: The highest score in the three trials is recorded as the score for the candidate.
