From one end of a table tennis, bounce a ball such that a drop shot is played into the opponent’s side, five times.                                                               [20 marks]

The expected answers are as follows:

Activity 7:        Drop shot in Table tennis

Procedure:      The purpose is to place the ball close to the net on the side of the opponent from the candidate’s end. The ball is bounced for a drop shot to be played.
Use the scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to rate the performance of candidate on grip, stance and execution.

All performances should be judged according to the following rubrics:

Grip

(i)        held at the handle
(ii)       firmly held
(iii)       a comfortable type of grip is adopted
(iv)       wrist is flexed
(v)        facing the direction of play

Stance
 
(i)         assume astride position
(ii)        stand close to the table
(iii)       knee slightly bent
(iv)       lean forward slightly / tilt forward
(v)        face the table

Execution

 (i)        eyes on the ball
(ii)        extend the grip hand forward
(iii)       hit downward and fast contact
(iv)       the ball at the bottom / base
(v)        ball drops close to the net at the opposite side

 

Product Evaluation

The purpose is to measure the ability to place drop shot accurately into the opponent’s side of the table. Each drop shot is scored if the ball lands at the demarcated side of the table. Five attempts are allowed and scored.
