In a tennis game, execute a backhand rally against a wall above 0.91 m from a marked line using any stroke for 20 seconds. Three trials are allowed.                              [20 marks]

Activity 6:        Execution of rally in tennis game
Procedure:Candidate stands behind the marked line with a tennis racket and a ball and rally against the wall above 0.91 m for 20 s. Three trials are allowed. Use the scale of 5,4,3,2 and 1 to score the grip, footwork and execution to rate the candidate.

Grip

(i)        held at the handle
(ii)       firmly held
(iii)       adopt a comfortable type of grip
(iv)       wrist is locked
(v)        arm holding the racket is relaxed

 

 

Footwork

(i)         stands in astride position
(ii)        face the wall
(iii)       stay within the marked area
(iv)       player moves in the direction of the ball
(v)       play not rigid

Execution

(i)         ball is struck
(ii)        the hand holding the racket extended backward
(iii)       hand with racket moves forward to hit the ball
(iv)       body leans forward during the rally
(v)        knee slightly bent
