In part (b), majority of the candidates named five events in which a measuring tape is used.

  • Wrong choice of a pole vault pole
  • Wrong gripping of pole/poor grip of the pole
  • Not carrying / handling the pole properly
  • Slow run up
  • Planting the pole before getting to the box/late/low planting of the pole
  • Taking-off on wrong foot/close take off/poor take off position
  • Inability to bend the pole
  • Inability to swing up the legs
  • Inability to turn the body/poor body alignment
  • Poorly timed pole drop
