Execute the skill of forehand drive in a game of table tennis, ten times.                                                                                                                                                       [20 marks]

This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was above average.

The expected answers are as follows:

Activity 6:        Forehand drive in Table Tennis

Procedure:Candidate assumes a correct position in performing forehand drive in table tennis.  
Use the scale of5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to score grip, stance and execution as the candidate performs the activity.

All performances should be judged according to the following rubrics:

 

Grip
(i)         the thumb and the first /index finger rests on the right and left sides of the racket
(ii)        the other fingers are wrapped round the handle
(iii)       wrist is locked
(iv)       bat is held above the table
(v)        the front face of the bat faces the table
(vi)       adopt a comfortable grip

Stance
(i)         assume striding position / slightly striding position
(ii)        stand close to the table
(iii)       knee slightly bent / flexed
(iv)       lean forward slightly / tilt forward
(v)        face the table

Execution
(i)         eyes on the ball
(ii)        swing racket hand slightly backward
(iii)       move hand forward to contact the ball
(iv)       hit the ball at the peak of its height
(v)        avoid touching the table with any part of the body
(vi)       wrist is flexed at contact

Product Evaluation

The purpose is to measure the ability to execute forehand drive accurately into the opponent side of the table. Each forehand drive attempted is scored 1 point if the ball lands in the opponent’s side of the table.
