Question 1

 

(a) Write a letter to your friend telling him/her about a big modern hospital built in his/her home town.

(b) Write on a proverb that says: “Ọnwụ na-egbu nwa nkịta anaghị ekwe ya nụrụ isi nsị”.

(c) Write an argumentative essay on the motion: ‘It is better to own a motorcycle than a car’. Most of the candidates were not able to get the appropriate opening remarks.

(d) Present in dialogue form, the discussion between Amaka and Amanda on how to get admission into higher institutions nowadays.

(e) Write a formal letter to INEC Chairman suggesting ways of reducing electoral malpractices in the forthcoming election.


Observation

 

Here, the candidate was asked to write a letter to his or her friend telling him/her about a big modern hospital built in his/her home town.

The candidates that attempted the question were able to use the correct format and could also mention the builder of the hospital, the equipment in the hospital and the types of workers employed to work there.

B.  Candidates were required to write on a proverb that says: “Ọnwụ na-egbu nwa nkịta anaghị ekwe ya nụrụ isi nsị”.

Candidates were expected to explain the proverb before telling an appropriate story but they were able to write stories depicting the meaning but could not give a specific meaning to the proverb.

 

  • Candidates were expected to write an argumentative essay on the motion: ‘It is better to own a motorcycle than a car’. Most of the candidates were not able to get the appropriate opening remarks.

D.        In this question, candidates were asked to present in dialogue form, the discussion between Amaka and Amanda on how to get admission into higher institutions nowadays.
