Candidates were required to
(a) State the  use of each of the following:

1. slip hemming
2. edge- stitching
3. overcastting
4. basting
5. backstitch

(b)  State one advantage and one disadvantage of using each of the following in garment making:
(i)  tracing wheel;
(ii) tailors chalk.
(c)        Use diagrams to illustrate how to work one of the following stitches:
(i)         loop stitch
(ii)       buttonhole stitch

Only few candidates from different centers attempted this question and they performed poorly especially in explaining the advantages and disadvantages of tracing wheel and tailors chalk, and the diagrams showing how to work the loop and buttonhole stitches. Most of the candidates were rather defining the tracing wheel and tailors chalk rather than giving advantages and disadvantages.
