This was one of the favoured questions among the candidates.  They were to write on the Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus, but most of them confused it with the Matthew’s account, where the wise men visited Jesus.  They were expected to give points as

  1. God sent angel Gabriel to betroth Mary;
  2. Mary was disturbed and perplexed by the greeting;
  3. She was told she would be the mother of Jesus;
  4. Caesar Augustus gave a decree for census.

While in the (b) part of the question they were able to point out the importance of the birth of Jesus which included:

  1. Salvation and redemption of humanity;
  2. It stresses his divinity
  3. It teaches Christians the culture of morality and humanity.

The overall scores of the candidates was just average.
