Tourism Paper 2 WASSCE (SC), 2023

Candidates' Weakness

  1. The weaknesses reflected in candidates’ work included:

    (1)     Violation of rubrics
    Many candidates failed to adhere to the rubrics of the paper and therefore answered more             than the required number of questions.

    (2)        Inadequate preparation
    Many of the candidates did not prepare well for the examination. This led to their poor   performance.

    (3)        Misinterpretation of the questions
    Many candidates failed to perform excellently because of their inability to identify what the questions demanded. They therefore supplied wrong answers to the questions.

    (4)        Skimpy answers
    Most of the candidates were unable to explain their points; they only supplied skimpy     answers to the questions. The answers provided were incomprehensible and lacked satisfactory details to convince the examiners to award them good marks.

             SUGGESTED REMEDIES TO OVERCOME CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

    1. Candidates should learn how to interpret questions correctly;
    2. candidates need to study adequately to improve their English language so as to be able to convey their ideas properly;
    3. qualified Tourism teachers should be employed to teach students in schools;
    4. candidates should endeavour to update their knowledge by reading relevant Tourism textbooks;
    5. candidates should explain their points to earn full marks;
    6. candidates should be encouraged to attempt past questions.
    REPORT OF PERFORMANCE OF VISUALLY IMPAIRED CANDIDATES The performance of the candidates varied according to their understanding of the questions. Generally, they performed very well while some of them could not attempt the questions satisfactorily.
