Candidates pointed out how Father Jerome was able to identify the mark on his son, Theodore, and how he was later able to save his son.

Candidates were expected to discuss:

• The theme of supernatural as central.
• The character identification of Theodore as a peasant and as Father Jerome’s son.
• Father Jerome’s intervention and Manfred’s proposal to Isabella.
• The result of Theodore’s discovery – collapse of Manfred’s ambition. It also paves way for a marriage between Theodore and Isabella.
