Candidates were asked to explain syllabic nasal with the use of examples. In the (b) part of the question, candidates were requested to write five examples where ‘m’ and ‘n’ function as consonant sounds.
The expected points were:
(a) Ndagba myiriudaume bu usoro a na-agbaso mgbe mgbochiume na-esota myiri-udaume ‘m’ na ‘n’ na nsupe.
Omumaatu -
‘m’ - mbe, mfe, mgbe, mkpo, mmadu, dg.
‘n’ - nna, nkwo, nche, ndu, nkita, dg.
‘m’ - dika mgbochiume – mara, mere, mita dg.
‘n’- dika mgbochiume – nata, napu, noro, dg.
Candidates did not perform well enough here because of their inability to explain thoroughly.
