Observation
Majority of candidates attempted this question and they did well in it. However, some candidates
could not state characteristics of water obtained from the source in the diagram labelled B.
The expected answers are:

    (a) (i) Sources of water labelled A and B
    A – Rainwater/Rain

                     B/Borehole water/deep well water/ underground water
(b) Characteristics of the water in diagram B
- It is not easily contaminated/ clean/ pure/ hygienic
 - It is potable/ safe for drinking
 - It does not easily lather with soap/waste soap

    (c)   Methods of purification of the water in diagram A
- Boiling
 - Sedimentation
 - Filtration
 - Use of alum/named
 - Distillation
 - Chlorination
