Observation
Many  candidates attempted this question and their performance was good. In part (a) majority  of the students were able to mention effect of substandard housing on human  health. In part (b) they did well in it. In part (c) candidates were able to  state cause of fire outbreak in homes.

(b) Criteria for good housing
-           good site / well drained soil
    -           away from noisy environment

    -           good position of the building / structure  for cross / good ventilation
    -           close to social amenities
    -           good building plan
    -           easily accessible 
(c) Causes of fire outbreak in homes
-           power surges
    -           open fires from flames of wood /  candles / careless handling of lighted cigarettes / charcoal
    -            kerosene and gas lamps
    -           faulty electrical appliances / wiring
    -           faulty cooking gas / electric cookers
    -           corrosive substances such as acids / alkalis
    -           gas leakages
    -           storing fuel / petrol / gun powder in  the house
