Candidate's Weakness and Remedies

 

A SUMMARY OF CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
 The following weaknesses were observed from the candidates’ response:

  • Failure to state three ways by which excavated spoils are disposed off on a building site;
  • failure to explain how the right- angled corner at B can be extablished using 3:4:5   method;
  • poor sketching of ridge detail of a double pitched roof and indicating the parts;
  • failure to state the factors that would influence the selection of a type of gate for school fence wall;
  • failure to state two construction requirements of a steel reinforcing bar placed in a wide-strip foundation.

 

(b) SUGGETED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMMING THESE WEAKNESSES:
To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be well exposed to:

  • the study of  past question papers with their subject teachers to help them understand how to answer questions during their final examinations;
  • sketches of tools and labeling by giving them as an assignments on daily bases.  In addition the student should be given opportunity to go for industrial training for one month during their long vacation;
  • to practical work and also building drawing assignment to be given on weekly bases.
