Most of the candidates were able to given the required response to part (a) but part (b) and (c) pose a big problem to them.
Part (b) required the candidates to state four areas to be considered when designing a project while part (c) required them to list five design principles. They were expected to give the following responses respectively. Areas to be considered when designing a project are:
- the function;
- ergonomics i.e human factor
- economics
- the materials needed, and
- the construction of the product.
Design principles include:
- balance;
- unity;
- harmony;
- proportion;
- rhythm;
- functions and
- emphasis.
