(a) Most of the candidates were not able to give the right answer to the question. The required response to the question is reverberatory furnace.
(b) In (i and ii) none of the candidates could attempt this part of the question. The required responses for (bi) are:
- it has high electrical heat conductivity;
- it resists corrosion;
- it has an attractive finish when polished and
- it can be annealed by heating.
The right responses to (bii) are:
- for making electrical wires;
- for making parts of electrical machine;
- for making soldering iron;
- for making rivets, bowls, etc
(c) Some of the candidates gave the descriptions of the two types of file rather than sketching the files.
