From their responses, a significant proportion of candidates demonstrated that they were familiar with the prescribed texts. They frequently cited the texts in their responses. Few of the candidates also have the language skills necessary to structure their thoughts in the required ways. Generally, candidates performed better in African Prose than in Non-African Prose.
