Observation

The candidates were required to read the passage and summarize some details in a specific number of sentences. Many of the candidates were unable to summarize properly as they could not differentiate the main ideas from explanations and illustrations. Consequently, many resorted to copying copiously from the passage. Some candidates could not put their answers correctly in a few words thus they ended up writing lengthy sentences and, in some instances, copying verbatim from the passage which is no summary. It was also observed that many candidates could not separate main ideas/points from details and illustrations.
