OBSERVATION

Majority of the candidates preformed excellently and the question was widely attempt by the candidates, but the ‘c' part was poorly attempted by the candidates, therefore, they loose marks. However, they were unable to state some points on purpose of scalp manipulation. which is strengthen weak muscles, maintain muscular tone, improve blood circulation. Candidates were able to give answers such as:

(a)   FORMS OF HAIR ON THE HEAD

(i)Straight hair/long hair
(ii)Kinky hair
(iii)Wavy hair
(iv) Curly hair

(b) STAGES OF HAIR TREATMENTS   

(i) Combing/brushing
(ii) Shampooing
(iii)Conditioning
(iv) Steaming
(v) Trimming
(vi) Setting/drying
(vii) Styling.

 

(c) PURPOSES OF SCALP MANIPULATION

(i) It stimulate the circulation of the blood to the scalp
(ii) Relaxes and soothe the nerves
(iii) It stimulate the muscles and the activity of scalp glands
(iv) It render a tight scalp more flexible
(v) It help maintain the growth and health of the hair
(vi) It nourishes the scalp
(vii) It strengthens the scalp muscle
(vii)It relieves pains on the scalp

(d) REASONS TO AVOID SCALP TREATMENT ON CLIENT.

(i) If there are scalp abrasions
(ii) Prior to the application of lightener, tint, toner, permanent wave. a chemical hair relaxing treatment
(iii) When client’s health does not permit

(e) CAUSES OF UNHEALTHY HAIR.


(i) The use of wrong/poor comb
(ii) Poor hygienic condition
(iii) Irregular washing and oiling
(iv) Use of strong soaps and cosmetics
(v) Stress
(vi) Poor nutrition
(vii) Poor blood circulation
(viii)Excessive use of hot comb
