Most candidates lack basic knowledge of facts in clothing. The poor performance is some centers suggest that wither the candidates were not properly taught by their teachers. They also lack knowledge on how to answer questions. Some answered more that one question on a page and drew very poor quality diagrams. There were poor spellings and grammatical errors. The candidates also lack skill in pattern drafting.
Teachers should teach the students how to answer questions i.e. they should learn to go straight to the point. Efforts should be made to teach the students how to draw by giving them assignments on topics that entails drawing. Student should be taught pattern drafting using basic pattern drafting books written by Nigerian authors e.g. “The Basics of Dress Pattern Drafting”.
