They were required to:
    6. (a). State two differences between an electric sewing machine and a treadle machine.
       (b) Explain  why the following factors should be considered when purchasing a sewing       
             machine:

1. availability of spare parts
2. storage
3. skill of the worker

      (c) State one use each of the following sewing machine parts and accessories:
(i)   thread guide
(ii)  darner
(iii) ruffle

1. balance wheel
2. needle clamp

Almost all the candidates attempted this question and they all performed very well in 6(a) and (b) which were on the differences between an electric machine and a treadle machine and factors to consider when purchasing a sewing machine. They could not state the use of ruffler in question 6(c) but stated the uses of other tools. they were expected to state that ruffler is used to for pleating or gathering long lengths of fabric
