(b)        State three preliminary site operations prior to setting-out a building.

(c)        Sketch each of the following hand tools:
(i)        jointer;
(ii)        wooden hawk.

Observation

Most candidates were able to:

-    List three safety wears that should be worn on site;
-    Sketch a jointer and a wooden hawk.
                       

However, few candidates were unable to state the three preliminary sites operations.

1. (a)    Safety wears that should be worn on site: 

  • hand gloves;
  • safety belt;
  • safety rubber boots/gum boots;
  • gas mask;
  • nose respirator/muffler;
  • helmet;
  • goggle/ visor;
  • overall/ close-fitting uniform;
  • respirator;
  • ear pad.

     (b)   Preliminary site operations prior to setting-out a building:

  •  site investigation;
  • soil investigation;
  •  site clearance;
  •  site leveling;
  • provision of access road;
  • provision of plant, machinery and equipment;
  • provision of medical facilities i.e first aid box;
  • provision of services/ utilities such as water and electricity;
  • site security, i.e erection of fences and stores, hutment, hoarding etc;
  • topsoil excavation.

(c) Sketch of each of the following:
