Question 4

(a)        (i)         State three uses of specimen K in animal production.                      [3 marks]
(ii)        Mention three precautions that should be taken when using
specimen K on livestock farm.                                                           [3 marks]
(b)        (i)         Name two major nutrients in specimen L.                                         [2 marks]
(ii)        State three advantages of using specimen M in feeding rabbits.       [3 marks]
(c)        (i)         Name the management practice that could be carried out on farm
animals using specimen N.                                                                 [1 mark]
(ii)        Name three farm animals that specimen N could be used on.           [3 marks]

Observation

  1. It is surprising to note that some candidates concluded that the knapsack sprayer is used for killing insects, weeds etc instead of its use in animal production.
  2. Only few candidates  understood the major nutrients in palm kernel cake as some of them wrote iron, calcium, potassium etc; thus losing marks.
  3. Many candidates are unfamiliar with the advantages of feeding rabbits with plantain peels. The candidates noted that ‘it is cheap’, easily available’ etc but the major test is the advantages of plantain peels as a fibre source in rabbit nutrition.
