Weakness & Remedies

The following were observed as the candidates’ weaknesses.

• Poor problem-solving skills especially when it is numerical;
• Inability to interpret and plot graph correctly;
• Poor choice of scales for graph;
• Inadequate knowledge about thermionic emission, elasticity (young modulus), dimension analysis, pn-junction (V-I characteristics, forward and reverse biasing), pressure in fluids, impulse as related to change in momentum.
• Inability to correctly draw the magnetic field pattern around a bar magnet;
• Incorrect definition of neutral points, load and velocity ratio.

The following are the suggested remedies:

• Regular practice on problem solving;
• Attention to correctness of definition;
• Learn to plot graphs correctly;
• Pay attention to topics like the thermionic emission, waves, heat transfer, radioactivity and elasticity.
