General Comments

The standard of the paper compared favourably with that of the previous year. The composition section tested the usual writing skills: an informal letter to a friend, an article for publication, a formal letter to the chairman of a local government council, a speech and story writing. The subject for every topic was within the experience and competence of the candidates.

Generally, there was no noticeable improvement in candidates’ performance.
