(a)        Mention four different types of accommodation a travel agent can recommend to a family of four.
(b)        Outline three functions of National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA).
(c)        State five technical skills required of a travel agent.

 

Observation

The question was popular among the candidates, and they performed above average in this question.  Some candidates could outline the functions of National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) and many of the candidates failed to state the technical skills required of a travel agent. This made them to lose some marks. They were expected to respond to the (b) and (c) part of the question in the following manner

  • Function of National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA):
  • Registers and regulates the activities of travel agencies.
  • Ensures the workers in travel agencies are properly trained.
  • Ensures that potential tourists are aware of the products, services and facilities on offer.
  • Promotes their services and products in the market place.
  • Protects members interest at all times.
  • Guard against fraudulent practices by unscrupulous agents
  • Maintain discipline among practicing travel professionals within the country
  • Advises members on any action or proposed action by Government or any other authority in connection with the travel industry.
  • Negotiate with government and relevant agencies on the most favourable policies for travel and tourism industry.
  • To ensure that registered members comply with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Universal Federation of Travel Agents Association (UFTAA) regulations.
