2.               (a)        List three types of materials used in print finishing workshop.
(b)        Define the following print finishing operations:
(i)         stitching;
(ii)        trimming;
(iii)       numbering.
(c)        List four steps involved in the production of edition case binding book.
(d)       State the difference between creasing and scoring in print finishing.

Observation

 

Candidates’ performance was satisfactory. However, questions 2(b) was not adequately answered.

The expected response to question 2(b) is as follows:


(b)        Print finishing operations
(i)         Stitching: Stitching is the act of securing sections of job with the aid of wire.
(ii)        Trimming: Trimming is the act of cutting a job to finished size ready for packaging and delivery.
(iii)       Numbering: is a print finishing operation where numbers are consecutively placed either in forward or backward order. Numbers are usually placed on printed sheets to ascertain the quantity of production. It is also used for security purposes.
