From the goal line skillfully demonstrate push pass into the field of play to cover a good distance in hockey game.    [20 marks]

Observation

 

 

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fairly good. They did well in it. They were able to shots at targets marked around the football goalposts from the penalty spot.
However, the expected answers are as follows:

Activity 5:    Push Pass in Hockey Game

Procedure:      candidate assumes a standing position at the goal line facing the opposing goal
post.  The stick is used to pass the ball as far as possible to the field of play using the two hands. 

Use the scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to score the grip, stance and execution as the candidate performs the activity.

All performances will be judge according to following rubrics.

 

 

Grip

(i)         with the two hands
(ii)        stick head resting on the ground, close to ball
(iii)       one hand up, the other one down
(iv)       the wrists are locked
(v)        fingers are wrapped round the stick

Stance 

(i)        the two legs are planted firmly on the field of play
(ii)       legs in astride position
(iii)      body slightly bent forward at the wrist
(iv)      hands slightly bent
(v)       focus on target

Execution

(i)        full extension of the arms
(ii)       wrists are locked
(iii)      ball is pushed forcefully forward
(iv)      the two arms and the stick moves forcefully along with the ball
(v)       rear leg moves forward/follow through     

Product Evaluation

The purpose is to push the ball for a distance.  Candidate stands on the goal line and executes the push pass into the field of play.  Three trials are allowed and the best is recorded as the score.
