    (b) State five faults associated with the performance of thief vault in gymnastics   [5 marks]

Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fair. 
In part (a) candidates correctly state cause of injury during gymnastic activities.  In part (b) candidates could not correctly state faults associated with the performance of their vault in gymnastics.

8 (a)  CAUSES OF INJURY DURING GYMNASTIC ACTIVITIES
-          carelessness
-           unavailability of spotter
-           use of faulty equipment
-           lack of skill for the main activity
-           fatigue
-           inability to follow instruction
-           lack of adequate supervision/monitoring
-           performing under poor light condition
-           unsuitable floor/explained
-           miscalculation
-           putting on unsuitable sports wear
-           age of the performer

 

(b) FAULTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIEF VAULT
-           not making a single take-off
-           hip not pushed forward with straight legs
-           non take off leg not kicked up
-           take off leg not properly bent in flight
-           body not leaned backward
-           hands not properly placed on the box
-           arm not fully straightened sideway and upward at landing
-           legs not passing between the arms
-           performer not recovering in a standing position

-           landing on two feet at the same time.
