General Comments

The standard of the paper compared favourably with those of previous years. All the questions were unambiguously framed and straightforward, covering all the sections of the syllabus. The rubrics were clear; the questions were framed in simple language depicting the basic vocabulary of mining. The marking scheme was comprehensive and met the demands of the questions.
The performance of the candidates improved when compared with that of last year.
