Candidates’ weakness showed in the area of:
- method of chamfering;
- lack of proper usage of the smoothing plane;
- finishing of the piece not well done.
SUGGESTED REMEDY FOR OVERCOMING THESE WEAKNESSES
Students should be taught how to use cutting tools properly and the need to have well sharpened tools for workshop practice. Merits of good finishes should also be emphasized by the teachers during practical classes.
