            Write on the Qur’ān as a source of guidance in all spheres of life.


Observation

This was a fairly popular question and was attempted by many candidates. Some candidates did not get the context of the question. Rather than given the points, they were only given sermon. However, in order to get good grade, candidates were expected to mention the following points:

  1. The Muslim’s Scripture is known as al-Qur’ān.
  2. It is a Book of guidance for mankind (2:2).
  3. It defines and directs social behavior in Muslim societies.
  4. The right and responsibilities of every Muslim’s constitutions are built.
  5. It is the foundation upon which Muslim’s constitutions are built.
  6. It contains Islamic democratic principles.
  7. It supports respect for constituted authorities.
  8. The Qur’ān shows the limit of the political authority.
  9. Spiritually, it directs to monotheistic religion.
  10. It is used in liturgical and other devotional practices of the Muslim.
  11. It is the major reference book in Islamic institutions of learning.
  12. The key to the spiritual development of Muslims is found in it.
  13. It will intercede for those who recite and memorize it.
  14. Moral issues are clearly addressed in it.
  15. It is a mean for obtaining a high position both in the present life and in the Hereafter.
  16. It leads to attaining a state of tranquility.
  17. It is a means to salvation from trials. (Q.14:1).
  18. The one who memorizes the Qur’ān is in the rank with honourable angels.
It is a criterion to distinguish between truth and falsehood. (Q.25:1).
