Candidate's Weakness
The Chief Examiners observed weaknesses in candidates performance in the following areas:
-  Difficulty  in answering questions on sound system;
      -  Poor  knowledge in Oral and Written Literature;
      -  Poor  mastery of orthography; 
      -  Poor  adherence to rubrics;
- Poor handwriting
Suggested Remedies
-  Seminars and  Workshops should be organized by the State Ministries of Education for Hausa  teachers to enhance their knowledge in phonetics, phonology and grammar. 
-  Candidates should cultivate good reading  habits.
-  Candidates  should be advised to improve their handwriting and write legibly.
-  Candidates  should be kept busy at all times through take-home assignments.
-  Only qualified  teachers shouldbe employed to teach  Hausa. 
-   Schools should make the selected texts  available for the students in the school libraries.
- In-service training should be organized for teachers regularly.
