Candidates' Weakness

 

The Chief Examiner observed that the candidates’ showed weaknesses in the following areas:

  1. Pre – mature approximation.
  2. Omission of units.
  3. Inadequate understanding of Vectors.
  4. Non – adherence to rubrics.
  5. Poor interpretation of questions.
  6. Poor understanding of Matrices and Determinant.
  7. Inadequate understanding of Integration using trapezium rule.
  8. Too much dependence on the use of Calculators and hence omitted essential workings.

 

 

 

  1. SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The Chief Examiner suggested that to overcome the challenges stated, the following remedies should be considered:

  1. Candidates should be encouraged to read questions carefully and understand

their requirements before attempting them.

  1. Candidates are encouraged to cover the syllabus while preparing

for examination so as to enhance performance.

  1. Parents/Guidance should provide their children/wards with modern textbooks.
  2. Candidates should pay more attention to involving diagrams.
  3. Constant practice by the candidates’ will enhance performance.
  4. Candidates should devote more time to learning necessary principles, as well as solving mathematical problems
  5. Candidates should be more committed and try to cover all the topics in the syllabus.
