Candidates greatest asset is in the use of verbs in the present tense and the passé composé only.  Some of the candidates wrote good French essays especially those that required the use of the present tense and the passé compose.

In letter writing, many candidates showed a good knowledge of the French format of letter writing.  A good number of them met the required length of essay.
