In this question, candidates were required to prepare:
(a) Statement showing the value of goodwill under each offer;
(b) The opening balance sheets based on the two offers.
Observation
Majority of the candidates avoided this question and the few that attempted performed averagely. The technicality required in the question was for candidates to apply the information in the additional information in preparing the statement of goodwill for the two offers and the opening balance sheet accordingly.
