Observation

Candidates were expected to write a letter to their friend who lives in Europe (in response to the request of the friend) describing a popular festival in his/her area. Most of the candidates attempted this question. Many of the candidates who attempted the question got the formal features of an informal letter. However, instead of describing a local festival, many of the candidates described various types of festival e.g Sports festival, Christmas, Ileya etc. Those who described the popular local festivals in their area lacked the necessary expression to convey their ideas in clear terms.
