Candidates were required to write a report, as the Sports Prefect, of the event that happened at an inter-school sports festival in which his/her school participated. The candidate was expected to state where, when and for how long the festival took place. A few candidates chose this question. Some of the candidates who attempted this question were able to state where, when and for how long the event took place. They were also able to mention some of the participants and the medals won. However, some of them described an interhouse sports competition not an interschool sports’ competition. Some of the candidates who attempted the question also wrote letters to principals of their schools. Aside this, the features of a report were missing in some of the candidates’ responses. Those who understood the question and whose essays were relevant lacked the necessary expression to convey their ideas.
