Observation

The passage was interesting, the subject matter was within the grasp of the candidates and the information required for answering content questions correctly was very clear in the passage. However, most candidates performed poorly. Some of the candidates’ quoted whole sentences from the passage as answers. In question 6(f), many candidates could not identify the figure of speech used and the meaning of the expression was haphazardly answered. Question 6(g) on grammatical name and grammatical function of the given expression were poorly answered. Also, question 6(h) was poorly attempted by most candidates.
