CANDIDATES' STRENGTH

The standard of the paper compared favourably with those of previous years. The essay writing section tests the usual writing skills: an informal letter, an article for publication, an official letter, a debate and story writing, all of which were within the experience and competence of the candidates. Similarly, the subject matter of the Comprehension and Summary passages were quite topical and within the experience of the candidates.
The questions were unambiguous and within the scope of the syllabus. There was a slight improvement in the performance of the candidates.
