OBSERVATION

The expected responses were:
(a)        Definition of a distribution substation.
Distribution Substation are stations where voltage is transformed from very high levels to lower levels for use by end users.

  1. Function of components of a distribution network.
  2. Lightening arrestor: Protects components from passing high voltage and to stop the amplitude and duration of flow of current.
  3. Insulators: To protect the conductor from other conductors
  4. Service mains: Serves as connecting link between the distributors and the consumer terminals.
  5. Conductors: They are used for transmission of electrical power from one point to another OR to carry current from one point to another.

The few candidates who attempted this number could not state the function of Service mains.
