Candidates' Weakness and Suggested Remedies

Candidates’ weaknesses were observed in these areas:

1. Word for word translation of expressions from English to Efik.
2. Poor punctuation
3. Carelessness in the use of the approved orthography.

1. Teachers should address the issue of translation in the course of their teaching.
2. Teachers should expose the students to the uses of punctuation marks.
3. Teachers should also encourage the candidates to adopt and use the approved Efik orthography.
