Computer Studies Paper 3, WASSCE (SC), 2017

Candidates' Weakness

The Chief Examiner reported that candidates showed poor skill on using CorelDraw to design cards.
It was also reported that majority of the candidates in some schools used pen to write out points which should have been typeset and this implies that the candidates did not do the practical. The weaknesses of the candidates are listed as:

  1. Non-adherence to rubrics.
  2. Wrong use of application packages.
  3. Poor navigation and selection on the windows.
  4. Inadequate preparation for the examination as it is reflected on their responses.
  5. Poor usage of the computer system.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The following are some of the remedies suggested:

  1. Stake holders should provide adequate hardware (such as Computer system and colour printers) for the practical examination
  2. Teachers should ensure that there are sufficient practical classes for candidates before the examination and all topics should be given equal attention.
  3. Candidates are encouraged to practice well before the examination.
