(b) State three reasons why the eradication of HIV/AIDS is still problematic
In Nigeria.

Observation

 

This question was equally popular as it attracted a vast percentage of the candidates. To majority of those who attempted it, their performances were incredible. Additional points candidates could have given are

 

A.        WAYS BY WHICH HIV/AIDS CAN BE CONTRACTED

  1. Through transfusion of HIV infected blood to a non-infected person/transfusion of unscreened blood
  2. Through unprotected sex with HIV/AIDS infected person
  3. Through the sharing of syringe and needle or other piercing and cutting objects between an infected and a non-infected person
  4. Mother to child transmission during pregnancy/delivery or breastfeeding
  5. Kissing an infected person with mouth sore/wound
  6. Unfaithfulness to one’s partner/multiple sex partners/promiscuity
  7. Cultural/religious practices that involve exchange of blood e.g. oath taking/covenant
  8. Exposure to infected body fluids

 

B.     REASONS THE ERADICATION OF HIV/AIDS IS STILL PROBLEMATIC IN NIGERIA

  1. Stigmatization of People Living With HIV/AIDS/avoidance of being detected in society
  2. Concealment of identity by People Living With HIV/AIDS after knowing about their health status
  3. High incidence of drug addiction in society
  4. Denial of the existence of HIV/AIDS by some individuals in the society
  5. Problem of Human trafficking/forced prostitution/sex slavery
  6. Prostitution/unprotected sex
  7. Cult initiation practices/blood covenant
  8. Ill-equipped medical facilities
  9. Poverty leading to promiscuous activities for economic survival
  10. Illiteracy/ignorance
