General Comments

 

The standard of the paper was high and compared favourably with those of the previous years. The questions were within the scope of the examination syllabus. The rubrics were clear and unambiguous. The marking scheme was detailed, comprehensive, clear and fair to all candidates.

The raw mean score of 10.0 and standard deviation of 8.43 indicated that the performance of the candidates was worse than Private Candidates 2017, whose raw mean score is 18.0 and the standard deviation is 8.12. 5,559 candidates sat the paper.
