The following weaknesses were observed from candidates’ work:

• Ability to use the correct conventional symbols to represent some building elements.
• Some candidates used wide strip foundation instead of ordinary strip foundation.
• Inability to construct the semi-circular arches.
• Inability to dimension and label their drawings.
• Poor knowledge and skills of simple geometric constructions.

To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be well grounded in:

• rudiments of technical or architectural drawing which include simple geometric construction of lines from a given point;
• proper methods of dimensioning building drawings;
• various lettering styles used in drawing.

In addition, candidates should be given ample building drawing assignments in order to enhance their flexibility in drawing.
