CANDIDATES' WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The observed weaknesses of the candidates this year include:

  • starting taxonomical names with small letter;
  • illegible handwriting;
  • ability to answer recall questions that involved name, state;
  • poor spelling of one-word and technicalterms;
  • failure to identify singular and plural labels;
  • inability to state structure and function for adaptation questions;
  • inability to name the adult stage of the organism in diagrams C and D;

The following remedies were proffered to overcome the weaknesses

Candidates should:

  • take the examination only after the completion of the senior secondary school;
  • attend coaching lessons to learn more;
  • study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;
  • improve on their spelling of technical terms;
  • study often and prepare ahead of exams;
  • read textbooks that have enough description of topics rather than Biology key points;
  • study questions properly before answering them.
