(a)        A SUMMARY OF CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES

Candidates’ weaknesses were shown in their inability to:

-           sketch a 4-speed sliding mesh gear arrangement with the third speed engaged;
-           state the demerits of a sliding mesh gearbox;
-           identify the parts of a leaf spring unit;
-           state the purpose of a swinging shackles and centre bolt.

(b)        SUGGESTED REMEDY FOR  OVERCOMING  THESE  WEAKNESSES

In order to overcome these weaknesses, candidates were advised to always prepare well for the examination.
